A Journey Through Creativity: From Architecture to UX Design

Growing up in a household where art was woven into the fabric of everyday life, I was surrounded by family gatherings filled with singing, dancing, and the enchanting sounds of instruments like the Tonbak, guitar, and Taar. This vibrant environment left little room for anything but creativity. Yet, amidst the joyous celebrations, I also witnessed the quiet aspirations of those around me—brilliant minds skilled in math, physics, and psychology. My father, a particularly striking example, had dreams he never realized, his unfulfilled passions serving as a reminder of the potential within each of us.

My parents were determined to ensure that I had the opportunities they missed. They encouraged me to explore, to grow, and to follow my passions. This support culminated in my acceptance into a prestigious university to study architecture. It was here that my creative urge truly began to flourish. I spent countless nights immersed in projects, fueled by a mix of excitement and caffeine, as I earned my master’s degree.

The Architect's Journey

Upon entering the professional world, I thrived in the initial phases of projects. I loved brainstorming concepts, understanding how people interact within spaces, and collaborating with clients to create designs that catered to their specific needs. Unbeknownst to me, this was the genesis of my journey into human-centered design.

However, as I moved deeper into my career, the excitement began to wane. Projects stretched out over years, mired in the complexities of construction stages, while budget restrictions seemed increasingly unrealistic. I found myself spending countless hours on drawings and revisions of ideas that had already been finalized. The disconnect between my early passion and the reality of my work left me frustrated and questioning my worth as an architect.

A New Direction Amidst Uncertainty

Then came COVID-19, a global upheaval that shook the foundations of our lives. I was laid off, suddenly presented with an unexpected opportunity—a chance to pause, reflect, and rediscover my passions. With newfound time on my hands, I began to explore online courses in various fields, searching for something that resonated with me.

It was during this exploration that I stumbled upon UX design. As I read about the discipline, I felt an immediate connection. The more I learned, the clearer it became: this was where I belonged. I signed up for courses, completed case studies, and began working with companies on UX projects. Each new experience reinforced my belief that this path aligned perfectly with my skills and interests.

The Call of Adventure

As I continued to immerse myself in UX design, I realized that my dreams of moving abroad were also coming into focus. One day, I received my Australian visa—an affirmation of my aspirations to embrace new opportunities and challenges in a different land.

My journey has been anything but linear, filled with twists and turns that have shaped me into who I am today. From the joyous gatherings of my childhood to the demanding halls of architecture school, and now to the dynamic world of UX design, I’ve learned that creativity knows no boundaries. As I prepare to embark on this new chapter in Australia, I carry with me the lessons of my past and the promise of a future where I can truly thrive in a field that excites me.

This journey has not just been about finding a career; it’s been about discovering myself, my passions, and the limitless possibilities that await.
